At the beginning of this year I made the announcement that I was going to shoot more portraits  and less weddings. Just so I could spend more time at home preparing for the arrival of babybone. Well……bam! Portraits abound. Here are some of the results of those shoots……..

When I said that I was only taking 10 weddings a year people thought I was crazy. How could you stop doing the thing your good at?

Well I don’t see it that way at all. By only taking 10 weddings a year it allows me to be more creative and a spend more time with each client.

And in the case of Dorie and Paul……..it allows me to book a wedding 2 weeks before the big event.

As soon as I got on the phone with Dorie I knew we were going to have a good time. Dorie and Paul have been together for 12 years and decided last minute that it was the time to “get hitched”. I am just so glad I was available to shoot their intimate affair!

They were married this past Saturday at Toronto City Hall.

As soon as I saw this wall I knew I had to shoot it……..and that dress! Couldn’t be more perfect!

The evening ended at Le Select Bistro……….perfect setting for these two!

So this new part of my life that I have ventured into has had an effect that I wasn’t expecting.

My brain cell’s have been sucked dry and replaced with UBER BABY cells………hence all I can think about is babies and baby items and baby website and my baby registry.

It is seriously a sickness! And the crazy thing is it started weeks before I was even pregnant.

So first off I’m going to share some pictures from my most recent baby shoot!

Bill was looking over my shoulder last night and he said “Are those all bookmarks for the baby?”. My response was…..this is nothing!

Surprise……..there is going to be a new addition to the family. And this time it has two feet instead of four.

That is right…..I’m preggo!

This is the ultrasound from yesterday and the first thing I bought for babybarebone…….this is going to be too much fun!

Surprised? So are we…..sort of.

This new adventure was started at the beginning of this year. I have been doing some Reiki sessions with my dear friend Alex.

And from those sessions it became apparently clear that I wanted to have children even more than I had ever thought ( If you know me well you would be like “what the heck……you never wanted to have kids!”)

Well it didn’t take Bill and I long to decide that this was the new path for us…….and bam. It happened. Now here comes the shocking part. I am not supposed to be able to have children easily……if at all.

I have something called Poly-cystic ovarian syndrome. Which is supposed to make this process incredibly hard.

So when Bill and I decided to do this…….I was thinking a minimum of a year before conception and maybe with the help of doctors intervention.

Were very excited that it did happen and a little overwhelmed! Luckily it all bodes well with my shooting season. I’m just finishing up with my first trimester so the nausea and sleeping for 18 hours is almost over.

By the time I start shooting weddings in June I should be well on track. And I’m due November 3rd  a full month and a week after I’m done the season. So don’t worry barebonebrides and barebonegrooms. I will be fully capable of shooting your weddings!

Were going old school on this and not finding out the sex of the baby…….so we have to come up with a boy and a girl name……suggestions are always appreciated!

I really and truly and excited about this next chapter in my life………I think we even changed libraries on this one

In celebration we are going to be holding our first ever Mini Session Saturdays.

The first three Saturdays in May are set aside for just barebonefriends!

Mini Sessions are $100, for 1-3 children only and last about 15-20 minutes. We will work on location, all around the bare bonephoto
studio, using natural light.

Each session includes one 8×12 portrait,an online slide show gallery with at least 10 great images, and in-studio order session.

All studio products are available for purchase a la carte, including prints, gallery wrap canvases, albums, and more.

Because of limited availability, sessions will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis.

It isn’t to often that I get to shoot my friends let alone another photographer.

I’ve known Chris from Click Photography for about 6 years ( Chris correct me if I’m WAY off! )

In the past year or so Chris has become a very close friend and I am so lucky to have her in my life!

Simple as ever…but a little more fresh!

The main reason for the new site was the addition of workshops!

Were now officially offering one on one workshops at the studio. There are a couple to choose from. All the info can be found here.

We have also added more info regarding portraits and wedding.

In the coming year we are changing the focus of our studio from Weddings to Portraits and Workshops.

We will still be doing weddings, but if you were thinking of booking us or referring a friend……do it now! Were only taking 10 commissions a year!

One day out of the blue I got a call from Blair Groves. Coordinator for the Community living project Passport Mentoring initiative.

He asked me if I would be interested in mentoring Evie, a 17 year old girl with down-syndrome and autism who loves photography. I immediately said YES!!!!!

I never knew how much this answer would change my life.  Evie has opened up my eyes to an entire new world!

Every Tuesday afternoon I spend an hour with Evie. We take pictures and figure out ways make her camera work for her.

Evie has trouble shooting and holding the camera at the same time so I got her this Gorrila Pod…….it makes the world of difference!

One of the modifications , so Evie can shoot all by herself……….we call it the steering wheel.
